Useful over complex
If a feature does not solve the problem it was added for, it does not ship.
About Samarpak Labs
Samarpak Labs is an independent software studio. We build practical digital products, Android applications, productivity tools and privacy-conscious experiences — and we would rather ship one useful thing than describe ten impressive ones.
We design and build software for situations that are ordinary and slightly annoying: a phone screen visible to a stranger, a quote that has to be calculated in a van with no signal, a work session that keeps not starting. None of these are glamorous problems. All of them are real.
The studio works across Android applications, productivity tools, privacy utilities and experimental software. Some of that work becomes a product. Some of it becomes a prototype that teaches us enough to stop. Both outcomes are useful, and we describe them honestly on this site.
A product earns its place by doing one job well. That sounds obvious, and it is the hardest part of the work — because the pressure is always to add rather than to remove. We start with the interface, not the feature list, and we keep the scope small enough to finish.
Privacy is treated the same way. Where a feature can be built without collecting data, we build it that way. On-device processing, local storage and no-account design are engineering decisions we make early, not disclosures we write later.
People who use their phones for real work in real places. Contractors quoting on site, professionals reading confidential material in public, and anyone who wants a tool that behaves predictably on ordinary hardware and an average connection.
We would rather understate than overstate. The list below is what you will not find on this website, because we cannot support it with facts.
No invented headcount, offices, founding dates, funding rounds, customers, partners, certifications or awards.
No download numbers, user counts, ratings, reviews or testimonials that we cannot verify.
No claim that a product is available worldwide, or localised into a language, until that is actually true.
No promise of perfect security, guaranteed privacy or universal device compatibility.
We are a small studio, which means the people who build the software are the people who answer the email. If you have a problem worth solving, or you want to know more about something we are building, we would like to hear about it.
The principles
The same six commitments that decide what gets built, what gets removed and how the result is described.
01
If a feature does not solve the problem it was added for, it does not ship.
02
On-device processing, local storage and no-account design are engineering choices.
03
Contrast, keyboard operation and visible focus states are part of the definition of done.
04
Designed for mid-range Android hardware and average connections, not flagship phones.
05
Status, availability and limitations are stated plainly, including “not yet”.
06
Products are maintained after launch, not abandoned at version one.
